A self-managed account is one where the customer does their own administration (including updates, installations, configurations, etc) or "management." For self-managed clients, we only provide and maintain the hardware and provide access to your server/VPS via a web-based control panel or other means. This means it is the customer's responsibility to ensure the server software/operating system is maintained. A typical self-managed client will have some server administration experience, and will require very little assistance in managing their own server. For this reason, we cannot be held responsible for mistakes made by self-managed clients. We will make sure you can always access your server/VPS, and will never hesitate to fix any problem in our systems or network, however, if a customer is unable to manage his account properly, we will bill for support time (with your approval, of course) while fixing the problem. For simple account lockout problems on our servers, you can usually reset your own password and there will never be a charge for that. For restoring access to incorrectly-administered servers, the rate is $40 per hour, with a 15 Minute minimum. Depending on the customer's account status, we may choose to issue this billing in advance. We implement this policy on a client by client and situation by situation basis and most times are very accommodating without charge, but we do reserve the right to enforce this policy.

For customers with pre-paid server and VPS management plans, we offer a 50% discount from our normal $80/hr rate. This rate is available only to recurring-billed customers who have a current/paid status.

We offer packages ranging from 3 hours of support, to a maximum of 8 hours of support per month, at just $20 per hour!

•    • Add SNMP server monitoring with email notification for an additional $10 per month.

Our pre-packaged server management plans include CPanel server management, dedicated server management, Linux VPS server management and Windows VPS server management.

This service is available to any recurring-billed client with a current/paid account status. As always, HostHOP will assist any client per our "10 minute rule." If we can resolve your issue or guide you to a solution within a 10 minute period, which is often the case, there is NO charge. Should you require our assistance beyond 10 minutes, we will bill you in 15-minute increments. HostHOP charges a discounted rate for this service of $40 per hour (normally $80-$120).

• • We will implement the recommendations you choose.
• • We will update you with required information to access and maintain the security of the hosting account.

We can also provide server/VPS lock down and security auditing services to mitigate future attacks or to close current exploitable holes in your hosting account.

Let it be known if you have a hosting account with us and your account is hacked due to your own lack of security or negligence, you and your account will be terminated unless you can provide proof the problem was corrected by a professional (or if you have the problem fixed by our security team). We run a finely-tuned and high-performance network, which we keep as clean & hacker/cracker/etc-free as possible. We have ZERO tolerance for unnecessary (preventable) security problems. For this reason, if you are unsure how to secure your hosting account, we HIGHLY recommend this service. With our security and hardening services, you can rest assured that not only will we make every effort possible using the latest security software to secure your data, but you will also not be held responsible for any future security problems that are not caused directly by your own actions.
